Brandin Cooks has been hot-and-cold since his Week 1 blowup. Can fantasy owners count on him this week?
New Orleans Saints wide receiver Brandin Cooks was one of the most talked-about rookies in the run-up to the season. He lived up to the hype in the season opener, stinging the Atlanta Falcons for 95 total yards and a touchdown on eight touches.
Cooks has cooled down somewhat since his debut, but he continues to be a vital part of the Saints offense. Through six games, Cooks has 32 catches for 255 yards, adding 64 yards on five rushing attempts. He hasn't scored since Week 1 and isn't doing much with his catches, averaging just 8 yards per reception.
Fantasy impact: The Cooks' hype was frankly getting out of control in the preseason, and only escalated after his big Week 1. Now that the talk is calming down, Cooks is a nifty buy-low candidate from owners hoping he would repeat his Week 1 performance every game.
Coming off the bye, Cooks is an acceptable WR3, although he has a tough matchup with the Detroit Lions defense in Week 7. At this point, he carries more value in PPR leagues than standard formats, but Cooks can be started in all leagues so long as you keep your expectations in check.
