Matthew Stafford connected on a 59-yard touchdown pass with Golden Tate that was his first of the day, but his franchise-record 119th with the Detroit Lions. The touchdown in the third quarter of a Week 8 game in London, cut a 21-3 deficit to an 11-point hole:
Stafford, 26, has already owned the franchise record for passing yardage for a while, as he snagged that record early in the 2013 season, but his touchdown toss on Sunday put him ahead of Bobby Layne as the most prolific passer in the history of the Lions. Stafford is 17th in career touchdown passes among active quarterbacks.
Peyton Manning broke the record for most career touchdown passes earlier in October with his 509th, so Stafford is far from breaking any significant NFL records, but with a contract with the Lions that doesn't expire until the 2018 offseason, he'll certainly stretch his influence on the Lions franchise record books.
