The Kansas City Star has provided more details surrounding the murder of Kasandra Perkins and the suicide death of Jovan Belcher. Citing a number of sources, the Star recounts Belcher's final minutes.

Sometime in the middle of the night, police found Belcher asleep in his car several miles away from his home. They let him go and he returned to his home around 7 a.m. A report from the NY post tells a different timeline on when Belcher was found in his car by police.

After shooting his girlfriend in the master bathroom, Belcher kissed her on the forehead and said he was sorry.

He then drove to the Chiefs practice facility where he was confronted by GM Scott Pioli. The Star's story includes quotes from Belcher as he stood in front of Pioli and eventually, Romeo Crennel and Gary Gibbs.

From the report:

As Pioli and Crennel tried to reason with Belcher, the men heard police sirens closing in. Belcher then walked a few steps away with the gun still pointed at his head.

"I got to go," Belcher reportedly said. "I can't be here."

Belcher knelt behind a vehicle and made the sign of the cross across his chest before firing a single bullet into his head.

According to the Star's report, "arguments over relationship and financial issues had simmered for months." The Chiefs had provided counseling to the couple, according to the report.
