It's an unfortunate part of the job if you're the one who could get fired but it happens every year. We already have a rumor about who could fill the Kansas City Chiefs GM job next year despite that job still being held by Scott Pioli.
Apparently there's some talk on some sort of grapevine on who could lead the Chiefs next year, should Pioli not stick around. This coming from National Football Post's "NFP Friday Buzz":
Look for former Colts executive Bill Polian to get back into the league after the season. The grapevine says the Chiefs are the frontrunners for his services, should they part ways with Scott Pioli. Polian got his NFL start in Kansas City as a pro scout in 1978, so it would be fitting if he ended his career there.
The item doesn't have a byline attached to it so I'm not really sure what to make of it. Who is reporting this rumor? I don't know. It made me do a double-take while reading it.
I'd wonder where this rumor came from. Is it the Chiefs? Seems unlikely right now. Polian? Seems possible, especially if he's planning a return.
So, for now, I don't see much reason to put stock into this. We don't know what is going to happen at the end of the season, let alone what will happen after Clark Hunt makes his decision on who stays and goes.
