The Atlanta Falcons traded up to the 22nd overall pick to secure Washington cornerback Desmond Trufant. In moving back, the St. Louis Rams added a third-round pick (No. 92), and a sixth-round selection (No. 198), while Atlanta gets a 7th round pick in 2015 from the Rams.
Rumors were flying that Atlanta was trying to move up for much of draft week, and likely for a defensive back. Ultimately they chose the player many believed to be one of the best three cornerbacks in the draft. Rated 25th on Dan Kadar's big board, the Falcons address one of their few remaining needs. While their offense is already elite, stopping the pass is vital in taking the next step.
The Rams continue their recent trend of moving around after last year's trade with the Redskins for Robert Griffin III. Earlier in this year's draft, they also traded up for the 8th overall pick where they selected Tavon Austin.
