Remember how everyone was joking about how well Edmonton was tanking?

Well, that ended suddenly and violently.

The Minnesota Wild's playoff hopes are now fading quickly after the Oilers steamrolled them in their own building to the tune of six goals on eleven shots.

The onslaught began just 27 seconds into the game when Corey Potter, of all people, scored. Then Taylor Hall scored. And Potter again. Jordan Eberle joined the party before Nail Yakupov hammered the next two nails (pun intended) in the coffin. And just like that, the Wild were staring up at a six-goal deficit as their home fans rained down angry jeers from the stands.

Meanwhile, the Oilers twitter account gleefully summed up the playoff race in the West after the rout:

How ... cute? Minnesota can still wrap up a playoff berth with a win against Colorado tomorrow.
