For all the ups and downs Jonathan Quick goes through during the regular season, he's proven he was meant to play in the postseason. He showed it again on Saturday, backstopping the Kings to a 1-0 win over St. Louis.

The Kings desperately needed to avoid going down 3-0 to the Blues. Saturday was a chance for them to set the tone in their own building, and they made short work of that. The game was one of the most physically intimidating games of hockey in recent memory. The two teams shelled out 92 hits, and countless other attempts probably went undocumented. It was nasty.

And so was the play of the two netminders. Brian Elliott was great, even though he faced just 20 shots. The only goal he allowed was hardly his fault. Literally every body on the ice crashed his net in a mad scramble for the puck, and Slava Voynov slipped it past Elliott while he was one the ice without a stick.

The rest of the game belonged to Quick. He made some brilliant stops down the stretch, and the Kings are now back in the series thanks to him.
