
The third period began with the Sharks leading 2-1 on a pair of goals from Joe Pavelski. The shots and scoring chances had been fairly even through the first forty minutes, but the score wouldn't stay close for long.
At 1:40 of the period Logan Couture scored to put the Sharks up 3-1:
And then NINE seconds later a strong forecheck by Couture led to a goal from Patrick Marleau:
And then two and and a half minutes later, Couture would score again:
Three goals in 2:27 of the third period gave the Sharks a 5-1 lead, and Cory Schneider, making his first start of the postseason, would be pulled in favor of Roberto Luongo.
The Canucks would manage to score a goal late in the period, but numerous penalties prevented them from generating any kind of sustained pressure. The Canucks took 10 minor penalties in the game, while the Sharks had only four.
The Sharks have a 3-0 lead in the series, and will have a chance to complete the sweep in San Jose on Tuesday.
