Frank Lampard is now Chelsea's all-time top goalscorer. His equaliser against Aston Villa pulled him level with Bobby Tambling on 202 goals for the Blues, and he netted another goal to put Chelsea ahead and break Tambling's record in the 88th minute.
Lampard hit a shot from the edge of the area to beat Guzan and equalise in a game where both sides have been reduced to ten men. There are still suggestions Lampard will be released at the end of the season, although he still has the remainder of this game plus one more to claim the number one spot for himself even if this does prove to be his last season in a Chelsea shirt.
Nonetheless, it was a very decent effort, and a hugely important one. He followed it up with a well-timed run and a tap-in on a square ball by Eden Hazard to put Chelsea ahead. If he is auditioning for a new contract, then these goals could be a very big one in determining how the Blues' season finishes.
