New York Jets running back Mike Goodson was arrested on alleged drug possession and weapons charges Thursday night, according to a report from News 12 in New Jersey.
Goodson was reportedly taken into custody after he and another man were discovered in a stopped SUV on Route 80 in Denville, N.J. They were, according to authorities, intoxicated at the time. While bringing Goodson to a hospital, marijuana was found in his possession, and authorities came across a loaded 45-caliber handgun upon a search of the vehicle.
After Goodson and the other man, reportedly identified as Garret Evans, were released from the hospital, they were transferred into State Police custody.
Goodson signed a three-year deal with the Jets in March after playing the 2012 season for the Oakland Raiders. He was drafted by and played his first three seasons in the league for the Carolina Panthers. With Oakland last year, Goodson rushed for 221 yards and totaled 195 receiving yards over 12 games.
