The Dallas Cowboys are in no rush to return running back DeMarco Murray to the practice field during organized team activities, as the 2011 third-round pick will continue to miss practice during the second weeks of OTAs due to a hamstring injury, according to Todd Archer of ESPN Dallas, although the team is hopeful that Murray will re-join the team before the end of the week.

Still more than three months removed from the regular season opener, the Cowboys have no need to rush either, as there is very little incentive to risk further injury for Murray in May.

Murray, 25, has missed nine games due to injury in his first two seasons in the NFL and was considered an injury-prone prospect when the Cowboys selected him in 2011. That could cause some to raise their eyebrows at his current injury circumstances, but his injury history could also be the reason why the Cowboys are electing to be more careful than usual with the running back so early in the offseason.

In two seasons with the Cowboys, Murray has accumulated 1,560 yards rushing and six touchdowns on only 325 carries, and is expected to take the bulk of the carries in 2013 after the team elected to allow Felix Jones to leave in free agency. The Cowboys selected running back Joseph Randle in the fifth round of the 2013 NFL Draft as insurance for Murray.
