Upsets continue to define the NCAA baseball tournament on the opening day, with a total of six No. 2 seeds falling to No. 3 seeds so far. There was no upset of LSU, but the Tigers looked shaky down the stretch against Jackson State and went deeper into their bullpen than they would have liked. They were the first SEC team to win Friday, putting the conference off to a surprising 1-4 start. Here's a breakdown of all the action:

UCSB 6, Texas A&M 4 (Corvallis Regional)

Five UCSB players recorded RBIs as they put together a solid double-digit hit performance to knock A&M into the losers' bracket. It was a tough start for the Aggies' Daniel Mengden, who gave up six runs on five hits and couldn't make it out of the third. On the other side, UCSB's staff combined for eight strikeouts.

South Alabama 9, Mercer 4 (Starkville Regional)

South Alabama jumped out to a three-run lead in the first inning and kept the foot on the pedal, adding another four in the sixth. Senior Nick Zaharion went 2-for-2 and knocked in three RBIs and starter Anthony Izzio allowed only one run through six innings pitched.

Miami (FL) 7, Oklahoma St. 0 (Louisville Regional)

Tyler Palmer, Chantz Mack and Garrett Kennedy combined to go eight-for-11 as Miami rolled their first game of their NCAA tournament. The Hurricanes outhit Oklahoma State 12 to four in support of Chris Diaz, who pitched a seven-inning gem.

(4) LSU 11, Jackson St. 7 (Baton Rouge Regional)

It was a win, but it wasn't pretty. The LSU offense did its job, scoring its 11 runs on an efficient 11 hits and going yard twice, but pitching was another story. Ryan Eades lasted only 2 1/3 innings and the bullpen struggled mightily down the stretch. It took four LSU relievers to get through the final two innings, and they combined to give up five runs and turn a 10-2 laffer into a surprisingly close affair. They'll take the win, but this wasn't how the tournament was supposed to start for the number four national seed.

Kansas St. 20, Wichita St. 9 (Manhattan Regional)

In today's BBCOR bat age, its not often that you score nine runs and lose by 11. Kansas State's offense was just flat out dominant, hammering 19 hits and forcing the Shockers to roll through seven pitchers, none of which lasted more than two innings. Five Wildcats recorded multiple-RBI games. Kansas St. had plenty of pitching trouble of their own though, going four-deep into their bullpen.

Cal Poly 9, San Diego 2 (Los Angeles Regional)

Cal Poly was down 2-0 entering the fifth but picked up eight unanswered to cruise to an opening victory. Designated hitter Brian Mundell went two-for-four with two runs and four RBIs, one which came on a first inning solo shot. Senior Joey Wagman improves to 11-3 on the year after allowing only one earned run through eight innings.

Florida St. 10, Savannah St. 0 (Tallahassee Regional)

Florida State got only three more hits than Savannah State, but managed to outscore them by 10. The Seminoles advance easily to the Tallahassee winner's bracket.

Rice 3, San Francisco 2

It was a rather unfortunate that a game that was played rather well through 10 innings ended after an 11th marred by mistakes. A strikeout and passed ball kept things alive for Rice, and then San Fran's left fielder lost a blooper in the sun and allowed the winning run to cross the plate. The Owls' Zech Lemond certainly deserved the relief win, though, as he worked four hitless innings after taking over in the eighth.
