The Buffalo Bills and safety Jairus Byrd have not had any movement in talks on a long-term deal, according to CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora.

The Bills put the franchise tag on Byrd in the spring, but he has yet to sign his tender and skipped all of OTAs and minicamps. Byrd's tender is worth $6.9 million for the 2013 season. It's believed that the two sides are about $2 million apart in negotiations.

The deadline to sign franchise-tagged players to long-term deals is July 15, so the two sides still have plenty of time, but at the moment it appears Byrd is ready to sit out part of training camp. La Canfora notes that the Bills have about $20 million in cap space and will actually create more long-term space by getting Byrd off the franchise tag.

One of the top young safeties in the league, Byrd recorded 76 tackles, five interceptions, six passes defended and four forced fumbles last season.
