Lunch6-20-13

Hello, everyone, and welcome to Week 4 of the 2013 season of LUNCH JUDGMENT! I hope that I enjoy myself.

If you're new here, this is how it works:

1. You leave a comment below, describing the lunch you have eaten or are eating today.

2. Time permitting, I will respond with a comment of my own. I will rate your lunch on a scale of one to 10, and I will do my best to explain my rationale.

3. You will accept this ruling as accurate, absolute, and superseding of all municipal, state, and federal rulings.

Now, this time around, we are instituting a **SPECIAL STIPULATION.** This **SPECIAL STIPULATION** follows:

**SPECIAL STIPULATION**

If you submit a photo of your lunch in your report between now and 4:00 Eastern, you will be guaranteed a rating (max. 10 lunches). I realize that I am springing this rule on you quite suddenly, and that you perhaps already ate your lunch and didn't think to take a photo. I am sorry. Remember this stipulation for next week.

The logic behind this rule, frankly, is that I have grown suspicious of you. Your lunches have become so great that I think you're fudging. I think you're describing a lunch you had a day or a week or a year ago. There's no way 70 percent of you are eating a god-dang shrimp cocktail, you dig? This is my solution toward curbing all this tomfoolery.

I will start by sharing my own lunch. You can see a photo above: three (3) scrambled eggs on toasted sourdough bread. I first let some minced garlic simmer in a half-tablespoon of butter for a minute, then put in the eggs and slowly scrambled them for a good 7-8 minutes on low heat until they came together. When they did, I finished them off by adding another half-tablespoon of butter, placing them on a thick piece of sourdough toast, and seasoning with salt, pepper and chives.

This is a Breakfast Lunch. I had it with coffee. It was not complete, but Lord, was it tasty, and Lord, was it exactly what I wanted. I will award myself an 8.0/10.0 rating. There is absolutely nothing wrong with a Breakfast Lunch.

And now it's your turn.

Friend, what did you have to eat for lunch today?
