The 2013 Tour de France will begin in uncharted territory. This Saturday, riders at cycling's most prestigious event will take to Corsica, the only region of France that has never been graced by Le Tour. This year's iteration of the race, the 100th Tour de France in history, will also likely feature a first-time winner, if the oddsmakers are correct.
With last year's champion Bradley Wiggins out of the race due to various physical ailments, last year's runner-up Chris Froome of Team Sky is now the odds-on favorite to don the yellow jersey on the Champs-Elysees. Bovada Sportsbook currently has the South African rider pegged at 2/3 to win, giving him a better than 50 percent chance of victory. Alberto Contador, the 2009 Tour de France winner, is behind Froome at 11/4.
Cadel Evans is the only other former Tour winner in the race, but he finds himself as the eighth favorite to win with 33/1 odds. Richie Porte, Froome's Team Sky teammate, is the fifth favorite at 20/1.
