New Orleans Saints rookie wide receiver Kenny Stills has been placed on the non-football injury list, according to Aaron Wilson.
The non-football injury list is similar to the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list. It can be used during training camp, and while players can attend team meetings and access facilities, they are barred from practicing on the field. The one difference is, as the name implies, the injury didn't involve football. It's unknown what kind of injury Stills has, but Larry Holder of the Times-Picayune reports that he should be ready for training camp.
A fifth-round pick out of Oklahoma, Stills recorded 82 catches for 959 yards and 11 touchdowns in his junior year before declaring for the draft. He's expected to compete with Joseph Morgan and Nick Toon for No. 3 receiver duties.
The Saints also placed linebackers Rufus Johnson and Eric Martin on the NFI. Johnson was a sixth-round pick from Division II Tarleton State. He should contribute on special teams in his rookie year.
