There is a good chance that the Kansas City Royals will have catcher Salvador Perez back in the lineup Sunday for their game against the Boston Red Sox, reports the Kansas City Star's Bob Dutton.

Perez has been on the seven-day disabled list since Aug. 4 with concussion symptoms after being struck in his catcher's mask by a foul tip. Sunday is the first day that he is eligible to return to the team.

Though nothing is certain, the Royals are optimistic they will have their young catcher back. Manager Ned Yost in particular seems to like the chances of Perez's return.

"There’s a great chance that Salvy’s gonna come off (Sunday)," Yost was quoted as saying in the Star. "Again, we don’t know, we’re keeping our fingers crossed, hoping that all the paperwork gets back."

Perez, 23, has caught bullpen sessions and taken batting practice and claims he has no lingering symptoms related to a concussion.

Perez has hit .278/.309/.382 over 92 games in 2013 for the Royals.
