Jacksonville Jaguars running back Maurice Jones-Drew is preparing to face the New York Jets, but he won't know if he'll get to participate in the Week 2 preseason game, according to Ryan O'Halloran of The Florida Times-Union. Head coach Gus Bradley will make the call on whether or not Jones-Drew will play prior to the game on Saturday.
Jones-Drew faced questions about his health heading into training camp due to a foot injury suffered in December of 2012. In the weeks leading up to training camp, many questioned whether or not Jones-Drew was even in shape, yet he's only missed a single practice thus far.
Not only that, but the practice and the missed preseason game were both decisions made by Bradley. Jones-Drew says he wants to play this week, but it wouldn't be surprising to see him sit again just to be kept fresh.
Fantasy Impact: Jones-Drew hasn't been the top pick, but he's still one of the first running backs drafted by fantasy owners. Many were wary of him early on due to the injury concerns, but it's clear that he's no longer feelings the effects of the foot injury. It may be another week until we see Jones-Drew play in the preseason, but he's plenty worth drafting at this point.
