Buffalo Bills quarterback Kevin Kolb may be on a faster track to recovery than initially anticipated. In his second day back at practice after injuring his knee last week, Kolb was impressive enough in training camp on Tuesday to prompt coach Doug Marrone to suggest the quarterback could be ready for Friday's preseason game agains the Minnesota Vikingsaccording to the Associated Press.

The injury initially occurred when Kolb slipped on a wet mat during an Aug. 3 practice, twisting his knee and causing him to miss eight days of camp and the Bills' preseason-opening win over the Indianapolis Colts last Sunday.

Kolb is competing for the starting job against E.J. Manuel, who was expected to benefit form the veteran's bizarre injury. Manuel received heavy playing time in the preseason opener, playing deep into the first half. He finished with mixed results, overcoming a shaky start to finish 16-for-21 with 107 yards and a touchdown.

The Philadelphia Eagles initially drafted Kolb in 2007 in the hopes that he would replace an aging Donavan McNabb. After Michael Vick's arrival in 2009 left Kolb stranded on the bench, and he was traded to the Arizona Cardinals in 2011. He was cut after two up-and-seasons and signed a two-year deal with the Bills this offseason.
