This week's College GameDay showdown sees No. 17 Michigan host No. 14 Notre Dame in a fierce rivalry matchup between two young teams. Both teams are relatively fortunate injury-wise, with a fairly empty injury report.
Drake Johnson, originally listed as the number two running back on Michigan's depth chart, was hurt in the Wolverines' opener against Central Michigan and will miss the rest of the season. Johnson joins quarterback Russell Bellomy (knee), wide receiver Amara Darboh (foot) and punter Will Hagerup (suspension) as Michigan players sidelined for the year.
Star linebacker Jake Ryan will also miss the game, as he is still recovering from a knee injury that is expected to keep him out until at least mid-October.
Starting safeties Courtney Avery (knee) and Thomas Gordon (suspension) are expected to return for the Wolverines.
For Notre Dame, third-string quarterback Malik Zaire (throat) will miss the game, while running back Will Mahone (ankle) will be available. Wide receiver DaVaris Daniels suffered a slight groin injury against Temple, but will start against the Wolverines.
The Irish have three players out for the season -- defensive lineman Tony Springmann (knee), safety Nicky Baratti (shoulder) and linebacker Doug Randolph (shoulder).
