The Cleveland Browns will stick with Brian Hoyer at the quarterback position on Sunday, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL.com. The Browns will take on the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 4. Head coach Rob Chudzinski made the decision, and according to Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer, it seems like the job is now Hoyer's to lose going forward.
Hoyer replaced Brandon Weeden in Week 3 against the Minnesota Vikings, and he looked pretty good. He threw for 321 yards and three touchdowns, which was great, but he also had three interceptions. It was an up-and-down game for sure, but he eclipsed Vikings quarterback Christian Ponder and ultimately led the Browns to a last-minute victory.
Of course, it doesn't get any easier from here for Hoyer. He's got the Bengals in Week 4 and they're not going to be an easy test, especially as it's a divisional game.
Fantasy Impact: Hoyer isn't the strongest fantasy option, but he does have some boom-or-bust potential. Weeden was never an exciting fantasy performer by any means. The biggest beneficiary of potentially improved quarterback play is wide receiver Josh Gordon. He made his season debut on Sunday as well, and caught 10 passes for 146 yards and a touchdown. He's a solid fantasy option and should be Hoyer's top target going forward.
