Brandon Stokley placed on IR, Bernard Scott re-signed

The Baltimore Ravens placed Brandon Stokley on injured reserve and re-signed Bernard Scott Tuesday.

The Baltimore Ravens have placed wide receiver Brandon Stokley on injured reserve, the team announced Tuesday. Stokley sustained a concussion in Sunday's game against the Minnesota Vikings. It appears the decision to shut him down was not based on the severity of the injury, but rather the fact that he's had multiple concussions throughout his career.

Said career has spanned 15 seasons, and at 37 years old, it wouldn't be surprising if Stokley had a say in things. He hasn't been the best receiver by any means, but he doesn't have a whole lot left to prove and playing in the final three games of the season (Baltimore has only an outside shot of making the playoffs, a year removed from winning the Super Bowl) seems superfluous at this point.

To fill Stokley's spot on the roster, the Ravens re-signed running back Bernard Scott. He was on the roster until Sunday when the team released him to make room for tight end Dennis Pitta, who began the season on short-term injured reserve.

Stokley has been injured off and on this season, playing in just six games. He finishes the season with 13 catches for 115 yards. It's anybody's guess as to whether or not Stokley hangs up the cleats after this, but he has 397 receptions for 5,339 yards and 39 touchdowns over his career.
