Bradley Beal injury: Wizards guard to have MRI on leg

The Wizards' second-year guard left in the fourth quarter with a left leg injury against the Timberwolves.

Washington Wizards guard Bradley Beal fell to the floor and couldn't get up late in the fourth quarter against the Minnesota Timberwolves. He was hit by a screen and his left knee appeared to buckle under his leg.

The second-year guard was unable to walk on his own strength as he was carried off by his teammates.

Beal scored 14 points and collected three rebounds before leaving with the injury. It was his fourth game back after he missed two weeks earlier in the season with a stress injury to his proximal right fibula. He also missed the final eight games of last season with a different stress injury.

In 16 games prior to Friday night, Beal was averaging 19.6 points, 4.3 rebounds and three assists, shooting 45 percent from behind the arc. The Wizards are 8.7 net points worse when Beal is on the bench, according to NBA.com's media site.

After the game ended, Beal was seen walking on crutches. He had a precautionary X-ray, according to the Washington Post's Michael Lee.

UPDATE (10:55 p.m. ET): The Wizards announced that X-rays on Beal's left leg came back negative. He'll have an MRI on Saturday for further diagnosis.
