Cleveland will be without their oft-injured center indefinitely.
The Cleveland Cavaliers announced today that center Andrew Bynum has been suspended indefinitely for conduct detrimental to the team, according to a release on Cavs.com.
Bynum did not travel with the team to Boston for their matchup with the Celtics on Saturday. No information is available at this time about what team rules Bynum violated.
The absence is another setback for the former Lakers and Sixers big man, who has been slowly working his way back into playing time after missing all of 2012-2013 after re-injuring his left knee while bowling.
In limited minutes, Bynum is averaging 8.4 points, 5.3 rebounds and 1.2 blocks per game. His impact has been nominal, and the Cavaliers took a gamble by offering him an incentive-laden $24 million contract over the next two years. Only $6 million of that is guaranteed though, as the Cavaliers can waive Bynum before Jan. 7 and relieve themselves of the remainder.
Without Bynum, the Cavs will look to Anderson Varejao and Tyler Zeller to make up the minutes lost in their frontcourt rotation.
