Eric Bledsoe had his damaged mensicus removed, not repaired, when he underwent surgery.
Eric Bledsoeunderwent knee surgery Friday and elected to have the meniscus in his right knee removed, not repaired, according to Mike Gambo of Arizona Sports 98.7. This opens the possibility for him to return during the 2013-2014 season, though the Suns have listed him "out indefinitely" before the surgery.
This is the second tear Bledsoe has suffered to his right meniscus, first undergoing surgery to repair it in October 2011. The Phoenix Suns initially declared him out for at least a week with a sprained knee, but Thursday announced he would need surgery. He underwent successful arthroscopic surgery Friday, and the 24-year-old point guard plans to play again this season.
Bledsoe was putting up career-high numbers across the board in his first season in Phoenix, averaging 18 points on 48 percent shooting, along with 5.8 assists per game. He will become a restricted free agent this summer and a second injury to the same knee could create doubt in his future. The Suns are expected to match offers for Bledsoe that are "within reason."
