The Dolphins and the Buccaneers have crossed paths in their searches for a new general managers, both requesting interviews with Eagles executive Tom Gamble.

The Miami Dolphins and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have pushing full speed ahead with their respective searches for new general managers, so inevitably they ought to cross paths. According to ESPN's Adam Caplan, both organizations have requested interviews with Tom Gamble, who is the current vice president of player personnel for the Philadelphia Eagles.

Gamble joined the Eagles' front office in 2013 after spending eight seasons with the San Francisco 49ers, where he worked his way up to the position of director of player personnel. He saw the organization make significant leaps forward in that span, particularly in his two last two seasons in San Francisco. A spate of strong draft classes during Gamble's tenure -- which includes the likes of Frank Gore, Vernon Davis, Patrick Willis, Michael Crabtree, Mike Iupati, Colin Kaepernick and Aldon Smith -- helped turn the 49ers into one of the strongest teams in the NFL.

Gamble has yet to be an NFL general manager, so it remains to be seen how he would fare leading a front office. Previous GM experience has not been running thread among potential candidates for the Dolphins and Buccaneers, however.

Names mentioned in connection with the Dolphins' search to replace Jeff Ireland include Marc Ross of the New York Giants, Omar Khan of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Lake Dawson of the Tennessee Titans and Jason Licht of the Arizona Cardinals. The Buccaneers have requested interviews with the likes of Lionel Vital of the Atlanta Falcons, Morocco Brown of the Washington Redskins and Chris Ballard of the Kansas City Chiefs to replace fired GM Mark Dominik.
