The Nets made a pair of deals Saturday to swap out Taylor and bring in Teague.
The Brooklyn Nets shook up the back of their bench with two minor trades Saturday, acquiring Marquis Teague from the Chicago Bulls while trading Tyshawn Taylor to the New Orleans Pelicans. First reported by Yahoo! Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski, the separatedeals provide a change of scenery for two young guards.
In exchange for Teague, the No. 29 pick in the 2012 NBA Draft, Woj reports the Nets will send 22-year-old big man Tornike Shengelia to Chicago.

Despite being a first-round pick, Teague never endeared himself to the Bulls' coaching staff and struggled badly whenever playing time came his way. In 68 games with Chicago, he averaged 2.1 points per game, shot 33 percent from the field and posted an abysmal 3.8 PER. However, he's still just 20 years old and remains an intriguing prospect.
For a team like Brooklyn that's pretty much without draft picks for the next few years, it's not surprising to see a gamble on a young guard who still might develop. Shengelia, drafted last year, has played brief minutes for Brooklyn and spent time in the D-League earlier this month, though he could help a shallow Bulls roster.
The Nets will also be receiving a "future pick," likely in the second round, from the Pelicans for Taylor and cash considerations. A second-round pick last year, Taylor appeared in 63 games and performed slightly better than Teague, but still struggled to carve out a role on a veteran-laden team. In New Orleans, he'll likely see more opportunities behind Jrue Holiday and company.
