UConn, Notre Dame, Tennessee and South Carolina grabbed the four No. 1 seeds on Monday night.
The field of 64 for the 2014 Women's NCAA Tournament was released on Monday night. There was not too much controversy with the bracket, but with some uncertainty surrounding the final No. 1 seed, there was plenty of intrigue leading up to the selection show.
South Carolina -- and not Stanford -- was named the fourth No. 1 seed along with Connecticut, Notre Dame and Tennessee. The Gamecocks lost two games in the final week of the season, but the selection committee apparently outweighed their season as a whole over recent results. The Cardinal are now listed as a two seed, and they could get their revenge against the Gamecocks in the Elite Eight should both teams advance that far.
