I'll just call this the Chiefs luck.
The current NFL draft order has them on track for the No. 1 overall pick and anyone who follows football knows the Chiefs biggest need is a quarterback.
The Chiefs have to get a quarterback between now and the start of next season. So if they end up with the top pick, they should feel fortunate it comes in a year when they need a quarterback.
But they should feel not so fortunate that it doesn't appear there's a quarterback worth taking at No. 1.
Speaking on ESPN, Mel Kiper said right now the Chiefs should be taking Manti Te'o with the No. 1 overall pick. Pairing Te'o with Derrick Johnson, Tamba Hali and Justin Houston would make for one of the best linebacker groups in the NFL (....on paper).
Of course, if the Chiefs actually drafted him, fans would go ballistic.
It's quarterback or bust this year.
Honestly, I'm not that worried about the quarterback prospects right now. Every year, there's a can't-miss guy in November who ends up getting drafted in the third round. And every year there's a prospect who grades out in the mid-rounds during the college football season, but catapults to the top of the draft.
The quarterback shuffle will work itself out and the Chiefs will select one of them.
