The Major League Baseball postseason is officially back. Ten teams are hoping to reach the World Series this year but only two will advance that far.
The Kansas City Royals eliminated the Oakland Athletics on Tuesday, and the NL Wild Card Game between the San Francisco Giants and Pittsburgh Pirates will follow on Wednesday.
The two ALDS series, which follow the five-game format, begin on Thursday, while the two NLDS series start Friday. The ALCS and NLCS start Oct. 10 and Oct. 11, respectively, and that's when we start seeing the seven-game format that's used for the remainder of the playoffs.
The World Series doesn't begin until Oct. 21, with the AL champion holding homefield advantage via the American League's victory in the 2014 All-Star Game.
