The top 5 reasons the KC Chiefs (and their offense) are awful this year

Just how bad are the Kansas City Chiefs?

Well, let me tell you...

1. What the Chiefs score in 14 games, the Patriots score in four games

In the last four weeks, the New England Patriots, the NFL's No. 1 offense, has scored 190 points -- 49, 59, 37 and 45. They won all those games, part of a five-game winning streak.

That's more than the Chiefs, Cardinals, Eagles and Jaguars have scored all season.

Kansas City has scored 161 points on the season. You have to go back to midway through the Green Bay game last year to get the Chiefs last 190 points scored.

So, what the Chiefs do in 14 games, the Patriots do in four games.

2. The kicker is the hero of this offense

As we noted, the Chiefs offense has scored 161 points this season. Ryan Succop, the kicker, has 81 of those points. That means that the Chiefs kicker has outscored everyone else on the team -- combined.

3. Huard/Croyle > Cassel/Quinn

Five years ago, the Chiefs had Damon Huard and Brodie Croyle playing for them. They averaged 14.1 points per game that year, the beginning of the worst three-year stretch in franchise history.

Today, the Chiefs average 14.6 points per game.

So in the last five years, the Chiefs have gotten "better" players, but the same results.

I would compare this offense to the one from the 2-win 2008 Chiefs, but that team had a high octane offense, averaging over 18 points per game so it's not a fair comparison.

4. Era of futility

The top four worst point differentials in Chiefs franchise history:

2008 (-149)

2012 (-140)

2009 (-130)

2011 (-126)

Now, you know 2012 is going to shatter the 2008 record.

What this tells me is that this year's Chiefs offense is extra bad because they're able to stand out in what is, at least going by point differential, the worst stretch in the history of Kansas City Chiefs football.

And we can't even blame this guy!

5. You're grounded

The Chiefs offense sucks because there are enough bad plays by the QBs that it was legitimately hard to decide which ones to include in this GIF:
