The rain forced NASCAR officials to cancel Saturday's qualifying for the Aaron's 499 at Talladega Superspeedway, and Carl Edwards was the beneficiary of the weather and decision. Edwards posted the highest speeds in Friday's practice and will get the pole position for the race.

Edwards is currently in second place in the Sprint Cup standings, a full 43 points behind leader Jimmie Johnson, who has 343 points to his name. Johnson will be back at No. 8 on the starting grid.

After the race last October, in which many drivers raced cautiously, there's some thought that an aggressive approach could be the one to go with this time, at least early on. In the previous race, there was a 20-car pileup on the final lap that saw Matt Kenseth escape unscathed to coast to an easy victory.

As noted by SB Nation's Matt Weaver, many will be jockeying for position early on in an attempt to get ahead of the issues that could arise due to the weather. Martin Truex Jr., who has the No. 2 position to start the race, echoed the sentiments in the above piece, saying that being at the front of the pack may be the safest spot to avoid the big crashes.

Below, we've got the full lineup and starting grid for Sunday's race, which begins at 1 p.m. ET on FOX.
