Kentucky Derby winner and Preakness Stakes favorite Orb began workouts at the Pimlico Race Course and the horse was full of energy during Tuesday's session.
Orb traveled by van from New York to Baltimore, arriving at Pimlico Monday night. Trainer Shug McGaughey said the horse had a good night after arriving and settled in nicely. Tuesday was the first workout at Pimlico and energy was not lacking.
"He had a lot of energy," McGaughey said, via PresBoxOnline. "I walked him a few turns and had to give him up. So far, so good."
Orb was the second Preakness contender to arrive and McGaughey said he was worried he brought the horse in too early, but following Tuesday's workout, McGaughey said he was glad they got there when they did so Orb was able to settle in while things were still quiet.
Prior to departing New York, Orb went through a workout at Belmont Park and the horse's exercise rider was concerned she had run him too fast. After seeing how energetic Orb was on Tuesday, Monday's workout was no longer a concern.
