The Yankees and Athletics managed to play an 18-inning game today, and when a baseball game goes that long, it ends up with some crazy statistics.

Here are some of the highlights:

  • Time of game: five hours, 35 minutes
  • 14 total pitchers used
  • 510 total pitches thrown
  • 22 hits combined
  • Some of the uglier no-hit games: 0-6 (Josh Donaldson), 0-7 (Derek Norris), 0-8 (Travis Hafner, Vernon Wells)
  • Adam Rosales came in to pinch-hit and ended up finishing the game 0-4
  • 26 combined runners left on base
It is also worth noting that the two teams went 15 innings without scoring, as the last runs scored before the walkoff single by Nate Freiman won the game in the 18th were scored in the bottom of the third.

Games like this can also bring out some Twitter-comedy, and Thursday's was no exception.

The A's, as they are known to do, had some fun with Freiman after the game.

We also couldn't go a full game without getting an #umpshow (although to be fair, he did make a really good call on a close play at the plate early in the game) from C.B. Bucknor on STRIKE TWO IDIOT!!111!!11

Out of fairness, here's the previously mentioned good call.

Oh, and the Athletics won, by the way.
